CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - The city of Carbondale will shut down the strip for the Halloween Homecoming Music Street Festival.

Organizers say they’re combining two traditions, Carbondale Halloween and SIU Homecoming, for the event on Friday, October 24 from 3-10 p.m.

The Strip (Illinois Avenue) will be closed off at 11 a.m. on Friday from College Street to Elm Street and reopen after the event is over.

City leaders say this area is included in the designated Downtown Entertainment District, which allows guests to enjoy beverages in an open container. The only exception is no glass bottles.
