WEST DES MOINES, Iowa —
A large police and fire department presence was at a West Des Moines school Wednesday morning.
Officials with the district and the West Des Moines Police Department say an active threat alarm went off and prompted an evacuation at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School. Students and staff exited the building.
But there was no active threat, according to police. Officers worked with school personnel to secure the building and determine all students were accounted for.
An investigation is underway to identify why the alarm went off.
