OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - An Omaha man was arrested in Illinois after he allegedly struck a state trooper’s car that was pulled over on Interstate 55, according to authorities.

The Illinois State Patrol said the crash occurred near milepost 217 in Livingston County at 2:45 a.m. Sept. 2.

A trooper was pulled over behind a disabled vehicle that was involved in a previous crash. The squad car had its emergency lights activated.

A van, driven by Samuel Gomez, 59, of Omaha, failed to move over and struck the rear driver’s side of the squad car with the trooper inside, investigators said.

The trooper was not injured. Gomez is charged with driving too fast for conditions, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and a move over law violation.
