MARSHALL COUNTY, Minn. — A man from Viking, Minnesota, pleaded guilty Tuesday, Sept. 9, to two felony charges: third-degree arson and obstruction of the legal process by interfering with a police officer.
Dillon Charles Berg, 38, was originally charged with the more severe crime of first-degree arson. The subsection of the third-degree crime he pleaded guilty to is for unintentional but reasonably foreseen damage inflicted on at least $300 worth of property.
Berg maintains not guilty pleas to an additional three charges: felony terroristic threats, gross misdemeanor fourth-degree assault on a police officer and gross misdemeanor domestic assault.
These charges could ultimately be dismissed in a plea agreement, but there hasn't been one publicly filed.
