President Donald Trump has reacted to Poland saying it shot down Russian drones that “posed a direct threat” over its airspace. “What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!” Trump remarked via Truth Social late Wednesday morning.

The U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, also weighed in on the incident. “We stand by our NATO allies in the face of these airspace violations and will defend every inch of NATO territory,” he vowed.

The incident marked the first time a NATO member has opened fire during the Ukraine war.
