WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - An investigation is now underway after more than 30 animals were rescued from a Columbia City home on Tuesday.

The Whitley County Humane Society Animal Shelter shared details about the rescue on Wednesday.

They say they assisted the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department and the Whitley County Health Department with a search warrant on Tuesday at a Columbia City home.

A total of 33 animals were removed from the home, including seven dogs, 24 cats, and two guinea pigs.

“It was an all-hands-on-deck effort to safely bring them to our care,” the shelter wrote.

Shelter director Abbi Carroll says all of the animals are alive and are being cared for at the facility, but they are not yet up for adoption as an investigation is pending.
