NEW YORK (PIX11) — The Tunnel to Towers Foundation continued to honor the sacrifice of first responders on Sept. 11, 2001, and beyond by changing their families' lives forever.

Ahead of the 24th commemoration of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, the Foundation announced six families of fallen heroes either had their existing mortgages paid off, or were gifted a mortgage-free home.

Tunnel to Towers has delivered over 1,500 mortgage-free homes to families of fallen law enforcement officers and firefighters through its Gold Star and Fallen First Responder Home Programs.
