PATERSON, N.J. (PIX11) -- A three-alarm fire in Paterson early Wednesday morning has displaced 50 people.
The fire happened at a multi-family home on Elm Street and quickly spread to the adjoining homes.
Residents tell PIX11 News that the fire started on the third floor of the home and quickly spread.
Paterson fire officials say the fire was extinguished around 5 a.m. One person was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The Red Cross is currently assisting 50 people from 11 families, providing them with financial assistance and temporary shelter.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
