Senate Democrats and House Republicans remain far apart on state budget talks, less than three weeks before the start of the next fiscal year.
State Sen. Sara Anthony, D-Lansing, said the House Republican spending plan would result in deep cuts to state services.
LANSING — There was more finger pointing at the state Capitol, but no reports of progress toward an agreement on a state budget for 2026 on Wednesday, Sept. 10, with a partial state government shutdown less than three weeks away.
Sen. Sarah Anthony, D-Lansing, chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, accused House Speaker Matt Hall of spreading "wildly inaccurate information" and "egregious lies," and intentionally putting the state on track for an Oct. 1 shutdown, which would result if no budget deal is reached by then.
