New York’s culinary scene continues to lead the nation, with four restaurants earning spots on the New York Times ’ prestigious 2025 list of the Best Restaurants in America.

This is a rigorous selection process, with 14 food reporters eating more than 200 meals in 33 states to get a true picture of what is happening at restaurants across the country.

Chef Paul Carmichael’s Kabawa, a Caribbean spot located in the East Village of Manhattan, just opened last year. It was recognized for its bold yet personal dishes, helping to elevate diasporic cuisines to fine dining levels. The list also noted that the restaurant focused highly on the storytelling aspect of the meal, with a tasting menu rooted in heritage and tradition.
