HOUSTON (KIAH) — Both lanes of the Katy Freeway are shut down as Houston police investigate a possible explosive device.

According to HPD, officers received a call at approximately 10:15 a.m. regarding a stalled vehicle near an underpass on the I-10 westbound frontage road and Wilcrest Drive. Responding units requested the department’s bomb squad after concerns were raised about what might be inside the vehicle.

Around 12:45 p.m., police searched a yellow pickup truck before having the truck towed away to a nearby gas station. There is no word yet if the truck is a threat.

HPD had closed the freeway in both directions while the investigation continued. At 12:50 p.m., HPD gave the all clear to reopen all lanes on the Katy Freeway.
