HOUSTON (KIAH) — A veteran Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy is accused of embezzling millions of dollars, according to court documents.
Sgt. William Vides appeared in a Harris County court on Wednesday, where he was charged with three counts of forgery and one count of theft. A judge set his bond at $145,000.
Vides was working security at the Highland Village Shopping Center. He is being accused of embezzling several million dollars from the company that owns the shopping center by using forged checks with the names of different employees or ex-employees.
A lawsuit filed in Fort Bend County by the Highland Village Shopping Center accuses Vides of embezzling over $4 million. The suit remains pending.
