LAWRENCE, Indiana — Lawrence police are investigating a police shooting Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 1:20 p.m. Sept. 10 in the 7300 block of Red Rock Road, near Pendleton Pike and Carroll Road on the city's far east side. Police say the location was a group home, and a caretaker had been assaulted.
Police say when they arrived, a man charged them with a knife, and police shot him. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died.
Police confirmed no officers were injured.
A 13News crew at the scene saw numerous vehicles from local police departments and IFD firefighters at the scene. Police tape was across the front of one building.
