INDIANAPOLIS — Hoosiers are responding to the apparent assassination attempt against conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Kirk was at a rally at Utah Valley University when a shot rang out. Social media video shows Kirk stagger and appear to collapse. Just before 5 p.m., a spokesperson for Kirk confirmed he had died.

At 3:15 p.m., officials announced the suspect was in custody. Around 4:30 p.m. they announced they did not have the suspect in custody, but had detained someone else.

Since the shooting in the afternoon, President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and FBI Director Kash Patel have all weighed in on the shooting, calling for prayers and promising a full investigation.
