MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Department of Transportation has unveiled plans to spend more than $160 million on paving projects in Memphis and Shelby County.
According to TDOT, the money will be used to resurface approximately 400 lane miles of interstate and state highways in Shelby County over the next two years.
The projects include resurfacing more than 15 miles of Interstate 40 -- including a section of I-40 between Levee Road and Hollywood Street that has generated many complaints from motorists.
Other roads and highways on the repaving list include I-55, I-240, I-269, Thomas Street, North Parkway, East Parkway and Walnut Grove Road.
"The Memphis and Shelby County area is home to some of the state's busiest highways," said Jason Baker, Region 4 Director for TDOT.
