When the Patriots released depth cornerback D.J. James on Tuesday, many speculated that it was a sign that star cornerback Christian Gonzalez was ready to return.
Those beliefs were dashed, though, when head coach Mike Vrabel told the media before practice that he did not anticipate having No. 0 back on the field on Wednesday.

"Well I don't think we'll see him today," Vrabel said. "Continuing to improve, which is positive, and working hard. But I don't think we'll see him today on the practice field."
Indeed, when the Patriots took the practice field shortly after Vrabel's press conference, Gonzalez was not present, according to all reports.
