Comedic actor Rosie O’Donnell said she missed her daughter’s college graduation because she was advised that returning to the U.S. might not be safe.
The “League of Their Own” star moved to Ireland when President Trump took office in January. The gay performer said at the time that she and her autistic, nonbinary child would return “when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America.”
Trump responded by calling O’Donnell “ a threat to humanity ” and said he was considering stripping her of her U.S. citizenship.
While it’s unrealistic O’Donnell would face banishment from her native country, she said on the “No Filter” podcast she was advised not to come home due to the president’s hostility toward her.
