Shots were fired at a Utah Valley University event featuring conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, a university spokesperson said.

"What we know currently is that Charlie Kirk was about 20 minutes into his presentation when we heard shots fired from a nearby building..." according to a statement from spokesperson Ellen Treanor.

Kirk was being hosted by the Utah Valley University chapter of Turning Point USA, which he founded.
