ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

Two people have been arrested on child endangerment charges after multiple children were found to be living in "extremely unsafe" conditions, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say on Tuesday afternoon, they were called to a home in the 1500 block of Biscayne Drive, in St. Clair Township, for a welfare check. Advertisement

Officials say a caller reported seeing a small child getting off a school bus unsupervised. The caller walked the child into their home and, after going inside, discovered the child's caregiver unresponsive and could not wake him.

Deputies say when they arrived, they came into contact with "multiple small children," and after repeated announcements, the man—the uncle of the children—was eventually found to be asleep
