Mechanical trouble proved a 38-year-old shoplifting suspect’s undoing.
Glovertown RCMP took the man into custody Sunday afternoon after vehicle trouble forced him to pull over on the Trans Canada Highway.
Gander RCMP were called earlier that same afternoon about a theft from the local Dominion grocery store. A description of the vehicle the man was driving, and his licence plate number were provided to police.
A patrol officer from the Glovertown detachment spotted a vehicle matching the description provided, pulled over on the side of the highway. The driver was taken into custody and charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 including two previous incidents dating to August 8th and September 2nd.
He was released on conditions to appear in court in November.
