NORTH BEND, Ore. - A suspected explosive device led to a swift evacuation at a local Goodwill store on Tuesday morning, according to the North Bend Police Department.

NBPD officials said that officers were dispatched to the store on Broadway around 11:36 a.m. on Sept. 9. Upon arrival, officers quickly ensured the safety of everyone inside by clearing the building. The Oregon State Police Explosives Unit assisted in the investigation.

Authorities determined that the public area of the store was not at risk. Goodwill was informed that reopening the area was at their discretion.

The devices, identified as small homemade items, were safely removed. They appeared to be unintentionally donated and lacked a remote activation mechanism, relying instead on a simple fuse for ignition.
