Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre promised “Trump-proof paycheques” during a visit to Cambridge Wednesday.

At Fil-Trek Corporation, a company that makes filtration systems for industry, which includes oil, gas and the water that’s used to cool data centres, he was greeted with cheers by about 100 workers.

“I admire you all,” he told them. “There are literally millions of people who rely on your products that don’t even know it.”

In a campaign-style speech, he promised to lower taxes, reverse high rates of inflation and build pipelines quickly to bring Canadian oil and gas to coastal ports so it can be sold to countries other than the United States.

“These are Trump-proof paycheques,” he said.
