The City of Montgomery and other groups are celebrating the opening of Freedom Village, which the city says offers affordable housing for people aged 55 and up.

City officials, the Community Action Partnership of North Alabama (CAPNA), the Bennett Group, Regions Bank, the Alabama Housing Finance Authority (AHFA), the Federation of Appalachian Housing Enterprises (FAHE) and other community partners cut the ribbon for the housing development today.

Freedom Village is off Edgar D. Nixon Avenue behind the former Lanier High School.
