SHREVEPORT, La. - A teenager is getting credit for saving his mother's life after an incident on Tuesday.

Shreveport police were dispatched to the 6000 block of West 70th Street at the Ashton Pines Apartments in reference to a violent domestic disturbance. Officers found a woman who had been attacked, allegedly by Timothy Young.

Officers said Young was on top of the victim with his hands around her throat when her 18-year-old son heard her screams. The young man rushed into the room and defended his mother. The teen was injured while trying to stop Young, but subdued him long enough until officers arrived.

Young was taken to the hospital before being booked into the Shreveport City Jail. The woman suffered injuries in the attack, including severe bruising and the loss of a tooth, police
