Fred Kelley announced recently he'll be running again for the Republican nomination in House District 68 after he narrowly lost the general election in 2022.

Long-time State Rep. Thomas Jackson (D-Thomasville) barely won a general election challenge by 550 votes over Kelley in 2022.

"I believe we desperately need a change in representation," Kelley told 1819 News. "We are losing population and jobs at an alarming rate, giving our graduates no choice but to leave home to find employment. It is high time we flip our Representative seat that has been held by a Democrat since 1994. That is just too long for anyone to hold a public office.
