A large transformer fire at the Pepco power plant on Benning Road NE sent smoke billowing over D.C. on Wednesday afternoon.
The large cloud of smoke could be seen from miles away. Chopper4 captured footage of black cloud pouring out of a large fire at the facility.

A blown transformer caused the fire and a large oil spill on the grounds of the facility, D.C. police said in a social media post.
The southbound and northbound ramps of Interstate 295 to Benning Road NE are both closed while first responders work to contain the fire.
