BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech offensive line coach Matt Moore spent a good portion of the first half Saturday night against Vanderbilt piecing together what his unit was going to look like.

Right guard Montavious Cunningham didn’t play after the initial three drives. Left tackle Johnny Garrett suffered a lower-body injury late in the second quarter. That meant Moore had to shuffle the combination to account for two redshirt freshmen getting their first extensive snaps.

Hokies coach Brent Pry said Tuesday’s practice would tell if left tackle Johnny Garrett and right guard Montavious Cunningham could potentially play in Saturday’s home game against Old Dominion (7 p.m. on ACC Network).
