More people are moving into South Carolina than out. And even more are coming for a visit.
From July 2023 to July 2024, the Palmetto State's population grew at a rate of 1.7%, according to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW). As of July 2024, 91,000 more people now reside in the state, with a population total of 5,479,000.
Jasper County was the third fastest growing county in the nation with a 5.9% population growth. Six S.C. counties made the top 100 out of 3,000 across the nation.
