EAST LANSING – After leading Michigan State to a double-overtime win against Boston College last week, Aidan Chiles couldn’t contain his excitement.

The quarterback concluded his postgame interview with NBC’s Kathryn Tappen with a hug, then raised his arms in celebration while bouncing across the turf as TV cameras followed.

Before reaching the end zone and climbing up into the seats to relish the 42-40 victory, Chiles snatched a boy into his arms and gave him a bear hug. The young fan being carried around was Beau Boyer, son of Michigan State quarterbacks coach Jon Boyer.

“I was tearing up almost,” Boyer said of the interaction between Chiles and his son. “Now he might have said a bad word or two, followed up with ‘I love you.’”

Beau wasn’t just a random target of Chiles’ enthusiasm.
