Several Delta Air Lines passengers sustained injuries during a July flight after a plane heading from Utah to Amsterdam flew straight into a storm.

The incident occurred on July 30 around 5 p.m. MT. The aircraft experienced severe turbulence while in cruise flight at an altitude of 37,000 feet near Creston, Wyoming, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a preliminary report released on Tuesday, Sept. 9 .

The turbulence was so severe that it caused numerous people on board to be injured. Out of 10 crew members, two sustained serious injuries, while five sustained minor injuries, according to the report. The remaining crew members were not injured.
