In wake of a recent brutal sexual assault of a Welland toddler, more than 300 people rallied in front of the Church Street courthouse in St. Catharines Wednesday, demanding sweeping changes to the Canadian justice system.
“We’re all here for the same thing,” said Karissa Tremblay. “Everything needs to change, and it needs to start today.”
She was joined at the demonstration by fellow Welland resident Greyson Backshall.
“I’m here to change the system and say good night to Daniel Senecal,” said Backshall.
Senecal, 25, was arrested after a Welland apartment near Crowland Avenue and York Street was broken into between the late evening of Aug. 30 and early morning Aug. 31.
During the intrusion, a three-year-old girl was sexually violated in an attack that left first responders shaken. She
