Jameson Taillon returned from a calf injury last month and made two good starts before hitting the 15-day injured list again with a groin strain.
He made one rehab start at Triple-A Iowa and was deemed ready to return, so the Cubs have activated him from the IL to start tonight’s game against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. To make room for Taillon on the active roster, right-hander Ethan Roberts was optioned to Iowa.
Taillon’s overall numbers aren’t great this year, but following his rough first 2025 outing vs. the Diamondbacks, he has a 3.79 ERA and 1.039 WHIP in 18 starts, which is pretty good, and close to his career numbers. The Cubs need Taillon to be solid for the two or three regular-season starts he has remaining.
