An Independent candidate in the Kelowna-Mission riding during the 2024 election has been served a $150 penalty for sponsoring election advertising without an authorization statement.

According to Elections BC, it received an email complaint on Oct. 11, 2024, that Ashley Ramsey had placed election advertising via a sponsored online article on the media site Kelowna Now that appeared to be missing the required authorization statement.

The article appeared under the column "Mission for Change" with the headline stating, "Tackling Mental Health and Addiction in British Columbia: A Mother's Fight for Support". There was also a banner on Kelowna Now's website stating, "Elect Ashley Ramsay for MLA Kelowna-Mission Independent," and a QR code which linked to Ramsey’s campaign website, which was a
