BISMARCK — A former longtime North Dakota Game and Fish director recently accused of committing a child sex crime had his bond set at $5,000 on Monday.
Terry Steinwand, 71, of Mandan, was charged with one count of gross sexual imposition — sexual contact — with a person under the age of 15, which carries up to life in prison without parole, following an investigation into allegations reported to police.
He led Game and Fish for about 15 years before he retired in 2021.
Steinwand was arrested Friday after an investigation by the Mandan Police Department that included a forensic interview with the alleged victim that was conducted at the Dakota Children's Advocacy Center on Friday, prior to Steinwand's arrest.
