For more than two decades, golfers in Coweta County have been hitting the links not just for bragging rights but to support those who served.

The Coweta Veterans Club’s annual golf tournament, now in its 22nd year, has become the organization’s primary fundraiser, helping keep its doors open and its programs running year-round.

This year’s tournament, held at Newnan Country Club last Monday, drew 30 teams and 120 players, filling every available slot.

“Many of these guys only play once a year, and it’s for this tournament,” said tournament director and chairman Janet Alford. “Once people play, they want to come back, and I always have a waiting list. Some of these players have been with us for more than a decade.”
