It’s always hot in Gainesville, Florida, but I’ve been told the weather was unusually stifling during Saturday’s Florida-South Florida game.

Maybe it’s just Florida in September.

Or maybe it’s the heat radiating off of Billy Napier.

The fourth-year Florida coach pulled his job out of the fire last year when his Gators ended the season with a four-game winning streak, starting with a 27-16 victory over LSU in The Swamp and ending with a 33-8 Gasparilla Bowl romp over Tulane.

Despite a season-opening 55-0 romp over rent-a-win Long Island University (who knew LIU even had a football team?), Napier finds himself back in the frying pan after Saturday’s 18-16 home loss to South Florida.
