Dustin Heikkinen has been a motocross rider since his childhood in the early 1980s.

From the day the snow melted in the spring, he’d take every opportunity to convince his parents to take him riding at Blackfoot Park, a motocross track in Southeast Calgary. Once he got a driver’s licence, it was rare for him to miss a day at the track.

Forty years later, as president of the Wild Rose Motocross Association that runs the park where he grew up riding, he’s calling on Calgarians to help save the sport in the city — even if it never looks quite the same again.
