OREM, UT (AZFamily) — Arizona lawmakers are offering condolences and prayers after Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of Phoenix-based conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was shot and killed at an event in Utah.

Kirk, who lives in Scottsdale, was speaking at a debate hosted by his nonprofit political organization at Utah Valley University when he was shot on Wednesday.

A video captured at the event showed Kirk bleeding heavily from an apparent gunshot wound near his neck. Officials initially said a person was in custody, but later updates indicated the suspect had not been located.

The Republican Party of Arizona posted a brief statement on X, stating , "Our prayers are with Charlie Kirk’s wife Erika and Charlie and Erika’s children
