Renowned Niagara Falls photographer Evergon opens a two-month-long show at Welland’s Art is Hell Studios .

The alter-ego of Albert Jay Hunt, Evergon is a former Stamford Collegiate student whose homoerotic work has earned several awards, including the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts for Artistic Achievement.

He was added to the Niagara Falls Arts and Culture Wall of Fame last November. During the ceremony, he recalled being a “social outcast” growing up a gay teen in high school. But he credited many teachers for giving him confidence he would later use as a photographer.

“Good outlaw or bad outlaw, you must re-evaluate everything, I mean everything, in order to survive and to create,” he said.

He now lives in Montreal.
