SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - It’s been a difficult time as nearly a month ago an upstate man lost his leg after a hit-and-run.

“It’s been kind of emotional. It’s like losing something really close to me,” victim Trevor Bibeau said.

On August 13 the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said a vehicle was traveling north on Ezell Road near Alan Ray Drive at 9:35 p.m. when it hit a pedestrian who was lying in the roadway after a previous crash on a scooter.

Bibeau said he was the pedestrian in the crash. He explained he was coming home from work on his scooter, a route he said he’s taken hundreds of times. Bibeau said he tried to get out of the way of a truck that was coming at him, but instead he said the truck hit him, ran over his legs and took off.
