GREENSBORO, N.C. — Parents of children with autism know how quickly a normal day can turn into a nightmare. That fear became all too real in Randolph County after 7-year-old Liam King disappeared and was later found dead.
We obtained the 911 call from the day Liam went missing, but it’s too difficult to share. In it, Liam’s mother’s boyfriend told dispatchers he was inside watching Liam when the little boy suddenly ran out the door.
The tragedy has prompted questions from parents about what could prevent similar incidents. The Randolph County Sheriff says if Liam had been wearing a Project Lifesaver tracking bracelet, the search might have ended sooner.
