RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia political leaders are condemning the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk , who was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) called the attack “incredibly tragic, unacceptable, and [something that] should be universally condemned.” In a post on X, he wrote, “Political violence has no place in a just society … my thoughts are with the Kirk family.”
Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-2nd) also responded, saying she was “praying for Charlie Kirk.” She called the shooting “abhorrent” and said the suspect “must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) posted that he and his wife, Suzanne, were “praying for Charlie Kirk and his family.”
