At least three students have been wounded in a shooting at a suburban Denver high school, authorities said Wednesday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the students were injured in a shooting at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, about 30 miles west of Denver, and taken to the hospital. No other details about the gunfire have been released.

The United States has seen approximately 44 school shootings in 2025, with around 23 of those on K-12 school grounds. In late August, as the new school year got underway, two schoolchildren were shot and killed at a Catholic school in Minneapolis. Before Wednesday's attack, the last school shooting in Colorado was in 2019 at STEM School Highlands Ranch.
