EastEnders legend Steve McFadden has won in the Serial Drama Performance category at the National Television Awards for the first time.

The 66-year-old actor, who has played Phil Mitchell on the BBC soap since 1990, was voted winner by fans after 35 years on the show.

Steve was up against some tough competition including: Emmerdale's Belle Dingle star Eden Taylor-Draper, Coronation Street's David Platt star Jack P Shepherd, and Debbie Webster star Sue Devaney, plus his EastEnders co-star Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning.

EastEnders icons Jessie Wallace and Michelle Ryan, who play Kat Moon and Zoe Slater, announced Steve as the winner of Serial Drama Performance category leaving the actor teary eyed.
