PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – After conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot to death during a speaking event on Wednesday, lawmakers from the Pacific Northwest are condemning political violence.

Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, during an event for the organization Turning Point, which Kirk co-founded, when he was shot, officials said.

Initially, the university said a suspect had been taken into custody, but a spokesperson has since said that person is not believed to be the shooter.
