Hamilton police are asking the public for help identifying a man who was found dead near the Niagara Escarpment two weeks ago.

Police were called to an area of Belvidere Avenue next to the escarpment around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 27, after a local resident spotted the deceased man in a large grassy lot surrounded by brush.

Const. Adam Kimber said police need to identify the man — believed to be between 60 and 70 years old — before determining what happened to him or if his death was suspicious.

At the time he was found, the man was wearing a light blue button-down shirt with a subtle plaid pattern, blue jeans, a black belt with a silver buckle and black running shoes (size 13) with grey and red markings, police said.
