49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gets brutally honest about releasing Jake Moody
The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Seattle Seahawks to begin their 2025 season 17-13. And while they won on the strength of a last-minute touchdown pass from Brock Purdy, the win didn't come without blemishes that cost one player his job.
Kicker Jake Moody missed two field goals in the win - a game that would have been far more in hand had he made those kicks. This led to the 49ers releasing him earlier in the week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about the decision to release Moody, to which he gave a brutally honest answer.
"Wasn't that much of a decision," Shanahan said .
