Three-time mayoral candidate and business owner George “Eddie” Lorton is taking another run for the seat in 2026.

In the 2022 Reno mayoral primary, Lorton bested nine other candidates to make it to the general election, where he received nearly 41 percent of the vote against Mayor Hillary Schieve . In the 2018, Lorton received 35.5 percent of the votes against Schieve in the general election. In 2014, out of 19 candidates for mayor, he received 8.7% of the votes in the primary election.

Lorton also ran for the at-large Reno City Council seat in 2020 . He received nearly 30% of the vote in his loss to Devon Reese.

Lorton is the third candidate to join the race after former Nevada lieutenant governor and treasurer Kate Marshall and current Reno City Council member Kathleen Tayl
