ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man is charged for accidently shooting his nephew in St. Louis County.

Court documents state that on May 16, Sean Owens was arguing with his wife’s family when they arrived at his house. The argument turned physical, and Owens pulled out a gun and fired three shots, with one of them hitting his 12-year-old nephew in the leg.

Police arrived and arrested Owens and seized the gun. The suspect admitted that he didn’t mean to hit his nephew.

Owens was charged with 2nd degree assault and armed criminal action.
