NHS classroom to be dedicated to late teacher

NEWBURYPORT — The Newburyport Education Foundation (NEF) invites friends, family members, and colleagues of Jane G. Politis to a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. as room 210 at Newburyport High School will be named after her.

Politis, who died in January at age 83, dedicated 25 years of her life to Newburyport High School. She taught psychology, sociology, history, civics, and a “leadership seminar”— that focused on the gifted and talented. Politis was nominated by her students for “making a difference in their lives” and was honored by being named “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.”
